Swedish Meatballs (Sauce Recipe)

 

  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/8 tsp nutmeg 
  • 1/8 tsp allspice 
  • 2 cups beef stock
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream or sour cream
  • tablespoon worcestershire or soy sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon Kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon white or black pepper
  • 15-20 meatballs 
  • Pre-made mashed potatoes, rice or egg noodles 
  1. Add the butter to a heavy bottom sauce pan, then add the flour and whisk until combined on medium heat.
  2. Cook the flour 1-2 minutes or until it just starts to brown a bit.
  3. Add in the beef stock and whisk well until combined.
  4. Add in the rest of the ingredients and whisk together.
  5. Add cooked meatballs and coat with the gravy until it is thickened, another 3-5 minutes. Serve potatoes, rice or noodles.
