Ingredients

  • 6 tablespoons butter, cut into portions
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar (about ½ tablespoon per butter portion)
  • 4 tablespoons cream cheese, cut into 1-tablespoon portions
  • Optional: dollop of jam (raspberry, strawberry, or apricot)
  • 1 sheet store-bought puff pastry, thawed

Confectioners’ Sugar Glaze

  • ½ cup confectioners’ sugar
  • 1–2 teaspoons milk (or water)
  • Splash of vanilla extract

Instructions

Prepare the Oven

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Prepare the Puff Pastry

  1. Lightly roll out the puff pastry.
  2. Cut into 4 equal squares and set aside.

Assemble the Base

  1. Place butter portions (2 per serving) onto the baking sheet.
  2. Sprinkle each with brown sugar.
  3. Add cream cheese portions over half of the butter-brown sugar bases.
  4. Add jam if using.

Top and Seal

  1. Place a puff pastry square over each portion.
  2. Press edges down with a fork to seal.

Bake

  1. Bake for 15 minutes, until puffed and golden.
  2. Carefully flip onto a serving plate.

Glaze

  1. Whisk confectioners’ sugar, milk (or water), and vanilla until smooth.
  2. Drizzle over warm danishes.

Prep Ahead

  • Assemble up to 4 hours ahead and refrigerate before baking.
  • Glaze can be made 1–2 days in advance.

Store at room temperature for 1 day or refrigerate for up to 3 days. Reheat in a 325°F oven to restore crispness.

Freezer-Friendly

Freeze baked danishes for up to 1 month. Reheat in oven until warmed through.
