  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 12 ounces hickory smoked sausage, sliced lengthwise and cut into bite sized pieces
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 1 jalapeΓ±o pepper, finely chopped
  • 2 (28-ounce) cans baked beans, drained
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
  • ¼ cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons hot sauce
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 green onions, sliced, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it into small crumbles until browned. Drain excess grease and set aside.
  4. Return the skillet to medium-high heat. Add the smoked sausage and cook for about 3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until lightly browned.
  5. Add the onion and bell pepper and cook for 1 minute, just until beginning to soften.
  6. Transfer the sausage and vegetable mixture to a large mixing bowl.
  7. Add the cooked ground beef, jalapeΓ±o, baked beans, barbecue sauce, yellow mustard, brown sugar, garlic powder, hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper.
  8. Stir until everything is evenly combined.
  9. Pour the mixture into a 9×13-inch baking dish and cover tightly with foil.
  10. Bake for 35–40 minutes.
  11. Remove the foil and continue baking for 15–20 minutes, or until hot, bubbly, and lightly browned.
  12. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
  13. Garnish with sliced green onions, if desired.
